Where is Cavtat?
Cavtat is a small harbour town on the coast south-east of Dubrovnik, in the municipality of Konavle. It is the closest resort to Dubrovnik Airport: about 6 km by road and roughly ten minutes’ drive, while the Old Town is about 19 km away. The airport’s own site plan signposts Cavtat at 5 km from the terminal.
That closeness makes Cavtat popular with travellers on short stays, with families who want a quieter base, and with anyone on an early-morning or late-night flight.
How do you get from Dubrovnik Airport to Cavtat?
A pre-booked transfer or a taxi. The official airport shuttle runs only to Ploče Gate and the bus station in Gruž, and does not stop in Cavtat, according to its operator, Platanus. The local bus to Cavtat, line 10, does not call at the airport either.
With a transfer, the driver tracks your flight, waits in the arrivals hall with a name sign and takes you to the door of your hotel or apartment. The first 60 minutes after landing are free, and the price is the same at night. Travel guides put a taxi from the airport rank to Cavtat at about €15–20 in 2026; our car costs €35, fixed when you book.
How do you get from Cavtat to the Old Town?
There are three good ways:
- Private transfer: €50 by car or €65 by minivan, door to door, about 25–35 minutes.
- City bus 10: runs between Dubrovnik and Cavtat 38 times a day in each direction, from 05:00 to after midnight, according to the Libertas timetable. A single ticket costs €4.00, plus €1.50 for each suitcase.
- Taxi: available from the rank in Cavtat; each taxi operator sets its own price.
The bus is the cheapest option for a day in the city. A transfer suits evenings out, families with children and anyone carrying luggage. Wherever you arrive, the last stretch into the Old Town is on foot; see Old Town transfers for where vehicles may stop.
Should we stay in Cavtat or in the city?
It depends on what you want from the trip. Cavtat is small and quieter, about ten minutes from the airport, which makes early and late flights easy. The Old Town is about 19 km away, so evenings in the city mean a bus, a taxi or a transfer back.
Staying in the city puts the Old Town and the main bus lines on your doorstep, but the airport is about 22 km away. If you cannot choose, a few nights in each, linked by a short transfer, also works.
Is Cavtat a good base for day trips?
Yes, especially to Montenegro. Cavtat lies between the city and the border at Karasovići, so a day in Kotor or Herceg Novi starts closer to the crossing than it would from the Old Town. Our transfers to Kotor collect you from your Cavtat hotel at the same price as from the city.
For days along the coast, the car with driver service picks you up in Cavtat too.
How do we book a Cavtat transfer?
Send us your flight number, the landing time, the number of passengers and suitcases, and the name of your hotel or the address of your apartment. We reply by email with one fixed price per vehicle. Cancelling is free up to 24 hours before the pick-up, and you pay the driver in cash or by card. The full list of routes is on the transfer price list.
